The Society begins with place because a landscape can hold questions long before it yields a conclusion.
What this page makes possible
Use geography before you reach for etymology. Ask what kind of place this is, who lives there now, how it has changed, and whose account is missing from the visible record. A name may preserve an older sound without proving a simple story. That uncertainty does not weaken the inquiry. It keeps the inquiry honest.
