The work in front of us
Privacy and Personal Information is a method page. It turns a broad cultural question into a set of actions that can be repeated without asking anyone to perform certainty.
A cultural institution earns trust through the ordinary decisions that protect people. Can someone attend without being recorded? Can they correct a name? Can they understand the page with a screen reader? Can a family keep a story private? Can a contributor withdraw material when public circulation no longer serves them? These are not side questions.
What this page makes possible
The Society does not assume access is entitlement. It will name its processes, minimize unnecessary collection of personal information, preserve attribution, and keep a route for repair. When a subject touches health, legal status, ceremony, children, or personal history, the right response may be a slower process and a clearer boundary.
The strongest result is not a declaration. It is a better record, a clearer relationship, and a next step that can be carried beyond the screen.
A practical move
Before you share a story, image, recording, or name, ask four questions: who is affected, what permission exists, where will it travel, and what would repair look like if the decision proves wrong?
